Friday Favorite 42
I love the internet and one place that I love is Craftster. It is a great crafting community where people post their projects and get comments and help. There are lots of tutorials and ideas of things to make. I've done a few Craftster craft swaps and had great luck with it too!

Craft Fair
I did my first craft show today. It was a great experience and hope to do more!
Here's a look at my tent from the front. I just love the appliqued sign I made.
I wish I would have brought a bigger table and had a neater tablecloth...
You can see my t-shirt quilt hanging in the background.
Up close of the table with the bib and burp cloth sets. I also had an apron for sale along with my photo book.
Here's my Christmas Quilt and a view of the capes and onesies hanging up.
For next time I want to make a fitted tablecloth, have a little sign for the t-shirt quilt so that people know that it is made of t-shirts, and maybe smaller price frames and a better way to hang the onesies...

Sew Sew Saturday
I
have been "sew" busy lately! I am preparing for a craft show on Sunday
so I have been sewing like a crazy person! Here is a little peek at
what I've been up to :)
This
is the Little League Quilt. I
gathered these shirts to make a sample to take with me to this craft
fair and to have on hand for people to see and feel when they are trying
to decide if they want a t-shirt quilt made (you do, you know you do)
;) I
have wanted to do one of these type of quilts for a long time. I think
it would be neat to have a quilt made up of your child's sports
shirts. What great memories!
Here is an up close with the corner turned up so you can get a little peek of the back...

I also made some burp cloth and bib sets. I am in love with these little boy prints...
The dinosaur bib and burp cloth are backed in a soft red flannel.
The robot set is backed with soft royal blue flannel
Little girl sets. I have 2 of the brown and pink strips. Each burp cloth is striped on one side, soft chocolate brown on the other. The bibs are striped on one side and brown and white dots on the opposite. They are reversible.
In the middle we have a fun floral print. The burp cloth is backed in a white t-shirt material and the bib is backed in hot pink.

And I can't forget the capes!
Each have colored Velcro closures at the neck and are the perfect weight for flying around the house!
Whew! I still have onesies and dog bandanas to make... Back to the sewing machine!

Spring Strings
I am in love with my newest quilt. I just love everything about it.
The colors, the pattern, the binding, the quilting, etc, etc, etc. I
even love the back! It is machine pieced, machine quilted, and hand
bound.

Tuesday Tip 41
Here is a weird little tip from The Fun, Cheap, or Free Queen
Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

Egg Basket
While laying in bed on a cold, rainy mooring I stumbled upon the greatest thing... The Pioneer Woman has a show on Food Network! Rejoice! I love her blog, cookbook, her ideas, etc, etc, etc! This is awesome. To celebrate this greatness I wanted to share her first recipe on the show, an easy genius recipe she calls egg in the hole but I prefer to call them egg baskets.
She also made a very easy Cherry Limeade...
I foresee another show being added to the DVR :)

Brownie Covered Oreos
Original recipe can be found over at Me and My Pink Mixer
I made these delicious little treats for a staff luncheon the other day and they were a huge hit! I've been asked by several people for the recipe and I thought it would make a great blog post :) So without further ado, I present Brownie Covered Oreos!
Here are your ingredients... yes, that is correct just brownie mix (and what it takes to make it, eggs, oil, water) and oreos!
Make your brownie mix like you usually would, I suggest if your mix has the option to make cake like brownies, the batter is thinner and easier to dip. Preheat your oven to 350.
Take an oreo and dip it in the brownie mix...
Place the brownie dipped oreos in a well greased muffin tin. I had issues with my first batch sticking. If the cookie is what is touching the bottom, they will stick! So to prevent this with the second batch, I put a spoonful of brownie batter in each tin and then placed the dipped oreo on top of that. Seemed to work well!
Here is what they should look like after 10-12 minutes in the oven at 350. I quickly took a knife and ran it along the edge of each so they would not stick. Allow them to cool about 5 minutes then remove from muffin tin and finish cooling on a rack.
Now, enjoy!

A Day of Remembrence
10 years ago today I was in college, as a freshman I had only been at school a few weeks and it was my first experience being so far away from home. I was sitting on my bunk bed eating Frosted Flakes before my class. I always enjoyed watching the Today Show with Matt Lauer and Katie Couric. As I watched they flashed to breaking news about something going on in New York. They said a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center towers. I sat there and watched and wondered, "How does that happen?". I heard Katie Couric scream and watched in horror as another plane went into the towers. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. At that moment I picked up the phone and called my boyfriend. I woke him up and just said, "Something is really wrong, 2 planes have hit the World Trade center buildings in NYC, turn on the tv" He still has a scar on his hand from the hurry of getting out of bed to see what I was talking about.
I didn't know what else to do but call my family and go to class. I remember feeling so lonely and scared. I had already had a twinge of home sickness and then this was happening. When I got to my science class we were told another plane had gone down in Pennsylvania and to go back home. I had spoken with my family and had finally gotten in touch with my mom, who at that time worked at Fort Bragg. They were on lock down and she didn't know when she could leave but to know she was safe. For the rest of the day I did what pretty much everyone else did, I was glued to my TV. I went to vigils and gatherings on campus over the next few days and became very attached to Appalachian State as it provided comfort and safety in such a scary time.
I never knew what people meant when they said they remember the exact moment when they heard about JFK being assassinated, I now know. I'll never forget that moment and I will never forget the heroes of 9/11.

Quilt Labels
I love having a lazy Saturday to sew. Wake up a little too late, sew awhile, find something for lunch, sew a little more. Its one of my favorite things...
Today I would like to post a tutorial for making your own quilt labels. I like to label quilts for close, personal friends, family and ones I plan to keep. Here's how I do it.
I start off by printing my little tag on printable fabric. You can buy this at any craft or fabric store. I always like to come up with a clever little title that goes along with the theme of the quilt. I also include my name and the month and year. I take a fabric that was used in the quilt and frame it out.
Sew all 4 pieces to the main tag. This really dresses it up in my opinion. I then trim it down to the size I think will be best for the size of the quilt.
Next, take a piece of fabric the same size of the tag. It does not matter what this is, you will never see it. I used muslin. Place the tag right side up and then place plain fabric on top. You are going to turn this inside out.
Sew 1/4 inch seam all around the edge.
Cut a small slit in the middle of the plain fabric. You are going to pull the printed tag through this hole. Press with an iron and push out the corner with a chopstick or other sewing tool. Do not worry about the slit. It is not going to show.
Here is what you will be left with. Beautiful tags! I try to do a few at a time since the printable fabric is not that cheap...
Now attach the tag to your quilt. I like to use the same stitch I use to attach binding so nothing is seen. Here you can see that it doesn't matter that there is a slit in the back fabric because it is sandwiched between the tag and the quilt. I think they really finish the quilts!
